Multiple People Shot at Howe Park - Large Unauthorized Party Erupts in Gunfire





On the evening of Saturday April 18, an unlawful gathering of a large crowd at Howe Park in Sacramento's Arden-Arcade area turned violent when upwards of 20 gunshots were fired as Sacramento County Sheriff's Office deputies were attempting to clearing the area.

How It Unfolded

Around 6:30 in the evening, the Sacramento County Sheriff received calls involving individuals who may have been carrying concealed weapons at Howe Community Park in Sacramento. Another caller reported a potential fight and individuals fleeing the scene.

An airship was dispatched and scanned the park but was unable to locate any active disturbance.

Despite this, multiple hundreds of people had assembled at the location for what deputies referred to as an unlawful gathering. Deputies formed a perimeter around the park, activated emergency lights, and used roughly 15 minutes ordering the crowd to disperse via loudspeaker announcements.

While law enforcement cleared the gathering, upwards of 20 gunshots were fired — sending hundreds of people running in every direction.

Victims of the Shooting

Four shooting victims — a female and three male victims, each in their 20s — were taken to Sacramento area hospitals. Two of the victims had serious injuries, one suffered moderate injuries, and one suffered injuries classified as minor. The Crime Scene

Gunfire originated from the Cottage website Way side side of the park alongside the nearby Home Depot at the 2200 block. The Home Depot store was temporarily locked down. Further shell casings were located on Cottage Way, with rounds lodged found in the metal fence adjacent to the nearby Home Depot — indicating a shooter who fired southward from along Cottage Way toward the Home Depot. Detectives and CSI personnel combed the scene for evidence into the night.

Suspects

Via scanner radio traffic, it was confirmed that a vehicle of interest — identified as a Kia — was pulled over in nearby Solano County with four detainees. website SCSO deputies were traveling to collect those detained and return them to Sacramento.
